Biography: Stefanie Powers is an American actress best known for her television work, particularly her role in Hart to Hart (1979–1984). Powers began her acting career at 16 and rose to prominence in the 1960s. Her performances span film, television, and stage, and she has been recognized with Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
Born Stefania Zofya Paul, Powers started her career with a contract from Columbia Pictures and a name change. She appeared in early films such as Experiment in Terror (1962) and McLintock! (1963). In The Girl from U.N.C.L.E. (1966–1967), Powers played her breakthrough role as April Dancer.
Powers' career further expanded in the 1970s with roles in both television and film. Her greatest acclaim came from starring as Jennifer Hart in Hart to Hart opposite Robert Wagner. The role earned her multiple award nominations. She continued her role in several TV movies throughout the 1990s.
Apart from screen work, Powers' stage performances included Cyrano de Bergerac (1978) and Matador (1991). She released a music CD titled On The Same Page (2003) and performed in the musical Gotta Dance (2015–2016).
Personal life events include her marriage to Gary Lockwood from 1966–1972, her relationship with William Holden, which influenced her conservation efforts, and her work as the founding president of the William Holden Wildlife Foundation. She was also married to Patrick Houitte de La Chesnais from 1993–1999 and was with Tom Carroll until his death in 2014. A lung cancer survivor, Powers was diagnosed with alveolar cell carcinoma in 2008.
